Fleming Island Parents, Guardians and Community,

Fleming Island is the home of the Golden Eagles and we have approximately 1,900 students. We have a faculty that is caring and that wants to see our students succeed both in the classroom academically as well as outside the classroom.  One of the things we pride ourselves on here are the accomplishments of our students in the classroom along with their extracurricular activities.  Our mission statement here at the school is “Preparing Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today”.

Our expectation at Fleming Island is for our students to act like young adults and treat others the way you would like to be treated.  We want them to be present and on time to school every day.  We expect them to be respectful, courteous, and helpful.  A good life lesson for everyone is to try and make every day better than the previous one.  This can be accomplished by doing unexpectedly something nice and kind for someone and having pride in yourself and your school.  We want our students to #SoarHigher in the classroom, in the community and in life.

Proud to be a Golden Eagle!

Sincerely,

Thomas E. Pittman

Assistant Principal, Heather Labbe

Dear Parents and Community Members,

I am excited to introduce myself as one of the assistant principals at Fleming Island High School.  I look forward to building relationships with students, parents, and community members throughout the year. Working together for the success of all students is one of my highest priorities. Fostering communication between school, home, the community and local businesses will aid in the success of all of our Golden Eagles.

Previously, I taught high school English for 18 years in both Clay County and Duval County. I am a strong instructional leader with experience in curriculum design, district assessment development, professional development, team building, and collaborative learning. I am also invested in developing the social emotional well-being of our students in addition to their academics.

I look forward to working with our elite teachers and staff to further develop relevant and rigorous instructional practices to continue preparing students for higher educational opportunities as well as competence in twenty-first-century skills that will prepare them for the workforce. I am excited to work alongside the best teachers in Clay County to motivate students to reach their full potential and soar to unlimited heights.

It’s going to be a great school year for our Golden Eagles!

Sincerely,

Heather Labbe

Dear Fleming Island Community,

I am honored to introduce myself as one of the assistant principals at Fleming Island High School. Having previously taught here, I was incredibly excited to rejoin the faculty and staff at FIHS, and continue it’s tradition of excellence. I am looking forward to the opportunity to foster relationships with all of our stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, community members, and business partners.

I am extremely passionate about data-driven leadership in education. This includes preparing all students for success after high school graduation, whether they are college-bound or headed directly to the workforce. My previous experience as a Career and Technical Education teacher, as well as a College and Career Coach, drives my passion to help each student find their own pathway to success. I am thrilled to work alongside our amazing teachers, who offer a wide-ranging, diverse wealth of knowledge and curriculum for our students.

It’s going to be a great year, Golden Eagles!

Let us live each day by the Fleming Island motto: Carpe Diem, Carpe Futurum!
